How To Move Through Fear To Reach Your Financial Goals

I woke up feeling stressed out today. I was unusually grumpy and irritable which was a little surprising since I just had a beautiful weekend relaxing with family and friends. It would seem logical that I would be relaxed and happy and content, not anxious and stressed.

After thinking about it, I realized that some money stories I thought I had worked through came back. The money story I was dealing with was about hustle and hard work, but I will talk more about that in a later post!

What is important for today is that personally and professionally, I am growing and making changes that are bringing me closer to my dreams. Changing and leveling up to a new place can be uncomfortable.

The feelings I am noticing are part of my personal safety alarm system. They are alerting me to be cautious, go slow, keep us safe! When I feel grumpy and irritable I usually go for a workout or take a hot bath. Today, I went to Pilates and still felt grumpy. I took a bath and felt annoyed. I tried to ignore it and get my work done, but everything that could go wrong did.

Finally, I took a break and acknowledged it!

Here are 3 questions you can use to help you get to a higher level in your finances:

  1. What is the limiting belief I am telling myself right now?
  2. Is this really true?
  3. What do I need to feel safe?

When I asked myself these questions I was able to identify what money story I was telling myself. In my case it was that “you have to hustle to be successful” and I was feeling anxiety over the three days I had taken off from work.

When I asked myself if this was true, I was able to acknowledge that I don’t believe this is true! I planned that time off carefully. I addressed open items on my to do list before I taking leave. I checked in and delegated tasks to my team. I had a plan in place for ongoing questions or open items.

The truth is that I believe we NEED time off to rest our minds and recharge our spirits to renew our creativity. When we come back after time off rested and relaxed, we are able to accomplish more in less time. I believe there can be ease around our work!

I also realized that in order to be safe, I just needed to reassure myself that everything is ok. I need to remind myself that I planned this time off. I need to acknowledge and appreciate the gift the time off was to me. I need to acknowledge and appreciate that everything is working ok!
